Artists Statement:

Brian was born in Grandímere Qc in 1938 and was raised in Maniwaki Qc. He attended Ashbury College and Carleton University. A varied career followed. Land surveying for Mines and Technical Surveys and the Polar Continental Shelf Project, forestry for CIP, running a movie theatre and as a film projectionist with the National Film Board for Expo 67. That was followed by photography, both in sales and as a photographer. In 1977, he settled down to a career with Grinnell Fire Protection as a specialist in Special Hazards Design. Brian has been influenced by Morton Baslaw of Ottawa, from whom he took a short evening course in watercolours, and a weekend course by Jack Reid, noted Canadian watercolourist and author. Since retiring in 2003, he has been more active than ever in his second career. Brian was accepted for the 50th juried Ottawa Watercolour Society exhibitions and participated in the Manotick Art Show and the LíArt dans Lí Outaouais, where he received the Normand Harrington Award for Best Overall presented by the Caisse Populaire. His work has been accepted in four OWS juried exhibitions which will qualify him for review for Fellowship status. His next goal is to be accepted as a member of CSPWC.
